We believe this dual accreditation, which is reviewed every five years, is indicative of our commitment to providing an excellent graduate education and our continuing effort to upgrade and revitalize our programs to meet the ever-changing needs of the global business community.
The Tobin College offers the Master of Business Administration in Accounting, Business Analytics, Computer Information Systems for Managers, Controllership, Enterprise Risk Management, Executive Management, Finance, International Business, Marketing Management, Risk Management and Taxation.
Also offered are Master of Science in Enterprise Risk Management, Investment Management and Management of Risk.
Tobin faculty members are dedicated and productive academics and professionals who bring the excitement of their work to the classroom and engage students actively in productive projects that will enhance their ability to excel in the workplace.
Here are a just a few examples of what makes our College stand apart from the rest:
The Executive-in-Residence Program
The Executive-in-Residence Program enables Tobin students to serve as consultants to participating for- or notfor-profit companies. Guided by clients’ senior managers, students seek solutions to complex, real-world business challenges. Students involved in these consulting engagements face real challenges and real responsibilities, with real consequences. Successful teams have had their proposals adopted and implemented by these companies, such as the Goodwill Industries expansion. Participating companies have recently included Broadridge, KPMG, R.R. Donnelley, KeySpan, Standard & Poor's U.S. Equity Research Services, and Weiser LLP.
Tobin students have an array of opportunities to study abroad. Several of our MBA fields of concentration are offered at St. John’s Graduate Center in Rome, Italy. Students pursuing these majors can complete their entire degree in Rome. Others, by planning their schedules, may take their courses for a semester on the Rome campus. More convenient to students who are employed full-time, Tobin offers a selection of Global Destination courses, which include a 7-10 day travel component to enable students to experience the operations of organizations and meet business leaders at various sites at a foreign destination relevant to the course.
The Student-Managed Investment Fund
The multi-million dollar Student managed Investment Fund allows students, under the supervision of an advisory committee of faculty and distinguished alumni, to invest a portion of the University’s endowment. Using the facilities in our state-of-the-art Financial Information Lab, Tobin students identify, analyze, and present investment opportunities to the committee. They then become responsible for monitoring the performance of their portfolio, and making real buy, hold, or sell decisions. Earnings (which have been impressive) are used to fund scholarships for economically disadvantaged students.
