Job description: The Business Innovation Unit (BIU) was established in 2015 to manage change and to promote innovation as part of WFP’s Innovation and Knowledge Management division:

  • BIU acts as the “management consulting arm” of WFP
  • BIU is composed of staff with top-tier management consulting backgrounds (e.g. Bain, BCG, McKinsey) as well as UN experience

Depending on time of joining, the candidate’s specific experience and current corporate priorities, the candidate will be responsible for the full delivery of a project work stream. Examples of specific deliverables are:

  • Corporate Executive Directors, Board and divisional key initiatives
  • UN Reform: Support Head of Business Innovation on UN Reform implementation inside the WFP and part of an inter-agency project team
  • Additional support to divisional needs

 

Qualifications: 

  • Preference for a degree in business, economics or engineering
  • About 2-3 years of progressively responsible national and/or international experience in a business or international relations related position. 1-2 years experience in change management, management consulting or finance required. Additional work experience desirable.
  • In addition to a high proficiency in written and spoken English, knowledge of a second UN language is a plus.
  • WFP supports Visa applications and the position is based in Rome, Italy.

 

Wage/Fees: WFP offers a competitive compensation package which will be determined by the contract type and selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Qualifications: Advanced university degree (master degree or equivalent) in International Law. A minimum of two years of experience in the legal field. Additionally, at least one year of experience in the legal and/or human resources field in the international environment. Solid analytical skills and ability to speak and present effectively, concisely and persuasively. Good knowledge of international administrative law. Likewise, excellent written and oral communication and drafting skills. Excellent interpersonal and client-oriented service approach. Additionally, the ability to work in a team and maintain effective working relationships in a multicultural environment. Ability to take initiative in follow up actions. Good IT skills. Excellent knowledge of English or French (oral and written) and good knowledge of the other language.

 

Wage/Fees: UNESCO’s salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits which may include if applicable: 30 days annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, pension plan, etc.

Organization:  created in 2000, Gavi - the Vaccine Alliance -  is an international organization  bringing together public and private sectors with the shared goal of creating equal access to new and underused vaccines for children living in the world’s poorest countries. The Gavi story begins towards the end of the 20th century when global immunization efforts were beginning to plateau. Despite the promising progress of the previous two decades, by the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), there were still 30 million children living in poor countries who were not fully immunized. What was needed was an entirely new approach. So, with the help of a US$ 750 million five-year pledge from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, in January 2000 the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (Gavi) was created

Wage:  interns who are not sponsored by their university may be qualified for a limited Gavi stipend to cover basic costs such as local transportation and lunch expenses during the internship. However, a stipend may not always be available
