The International Labour Organisation is offering the possibility to do an internship at their office in Washington in an immersive international atmosphere while refining the skills and knowledge you have acquired through your academic career!

Organization/Company name: The only tripartite U.N. agency, since 1919 the International Labour Organisation (ILO) brings together governments, employers and workers representatives of 187 member States , to set labour standards, develop policies and devise programmes promoting decent work for all women and men. The main aims of the ILO are to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues.

Open to:  Full-time students (including international students) enrolled in graduate-level programs as public policy, economics, international relations, law and business.

Job description: The Washington D.C. Office of the International Labor Organization (ILO) has openings for part-time internship positions (20 hours per week) on an occasional basis throughout the year. While we welcome expressions of interest, please note that we are a small office and unable to respond to individual inquiries.

Qualifications:

  1.    Be a full-time student enrolled in graduate-level programs as public policy, economics, international relations, law and business.  Both international and U.S. domestic students are welcome to apply but international students need to read point 2 below.
  2.    For international students: you need to possess a valid US student visa to apply for work authorization or have work authorization (e.g. permanent residence) in the United States. We are not able to sponsor U.S. visas of any type.  
  3.    Be proficient in English, both oral and written.

Required documents: Resume, cover letter stating your availability (E.g. "Fall 2012", "Spring 2013"), and a writing sample.

For international students: you need to possess a valid US student visa to apply for work authorization or have work authorization (e.g. permanent residence)
