UNA-UK has over 40 youth UNAs at universities across the UK.
These volunteer-run groups support our work by organising a diverse range of grass-roots activities. Ranging from speaker and fundraising events from campus events to Model United Nations, these activities raise awareness and interest in the work of the United Nations at a local level across the country.
Local UNAs have traditionally organised themselves by nation: Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England, with England being divided into regions (London & South-East, Southern Counties, Eastern, Central and North-East).

Job description: MUN stands for Model United Nations and involves the academic simulation of United Nations committees or related committees such as the European Council. Participants have the opportunity to learn more about international events, policies and ideas at the top of global discussions.
In an MUN participants assume the role of a representative of a nation, NGO, belligerent group in a war or another group with political representation. The representative will discuss and debate on topics as part of one the UN bodies;
A representative (also known as delegate) should use a wide variety of skills to develop a solution in the perspective of the nation or group they representing – or even tactically halt solutions from opposing nations or group.Conferences take place all over the world. In the UK they are usually held on Fridays and across the weekend, in other countries some conferences last up to a whole week. In terms of size, some conference reach around 2000 delegates, making some committees 100+ delegates strong. Others can be as small 60 delegates in one conference giving small committee sizes, but allowing the potential for more in depth discussions between certain nations or groups.
NottsMUN 2019 will have four committees and two crisis:
United Nations Security Council:
The Security Council is responsible for maintaining international peace and security. Made up of 5 permanent members, who have veto power, and 10 temporary members who are elected for two year terms, the council determines threats to peace and aims to restore order. The committee meets whenever peace is threatened in the global community and can obligate.
The Disarment and International Security Comitte (DISEC):
The Disarmament and International Security Committeeis the first committee of the United Nations General Assembly. The committee is tasked with dealing with international threats surrounding peace and disarmament and has to figure out solutions to the challenges in order to bring peace to the global community. Topics in this committee can involve biological, technological, chemical and nuclear weapons and also the arms trade.
The Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM):
The Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee is a committee dedicated to finding solutions to social and humanitarian issues across the globe. This committee deals with human rights issues and social development issues in respect to each delegations cultural norms and ethics. As the third committee of the General Assembly, SOCHUM seeks to improve conditions of life for all people and aid social development.
The League of Arab States:
The League of Arab States an intergovernmental organisation formed of Arab states seek to promote their members’ cultural, political, economical, national and religious interests. The League of Arab States has its own Charter and is the key body when a dispute emerges between Arab nations. The League of Arab States can handle topics such as the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and the Qatar Diplomatic Crisis, exemplifying a range of discussion that can be had between Arab nations.
Joint Crisis Committee:
A crisis committee simulates emergency sessions that place at the highest level of government. Crisis encourages participation as ever action taken by each individual affects the outcome of each crisis .
The event will include food and games at Ludorati Board Game cafe, a night at Baa Bar, a casino night and 3-course dinner at Alea, and a club night at Pom Pom.
Qualifications: Students with fluency in english
Wage/Fees: Delegates Fees £30; social fees £30.
