Organization: Americans for Democracy & Human Rights in Bahrain (ADHRB) fosters awareness of and support for democracy and human rights in Bahrain and the Middle East.

Job description

  • Research human rights crises and issues in the Arab Gulf region and their relations to the international human rights legal framework;
  • Draft policy papers and advocacy letters to the Irish parliament and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in support ADHRB’s mission;
  • Assist in ADHRB’s preparations for engaging with the United Nations Human Rights Council;
  • Attend and report on events, briefings, and other relevant meetings in the Irish parliament and Ministry of Foreign Affairs during legislative and parliamentary sessions;
  • Attend meetings with international and national actors, including NGOs, to discuss human rights in Bahrain;
  • Attend meetings with policymakers to discuss human rights in Bahrain and the Arab Gulf region;
  • Organize events and panels at local universities and in parliament to brief policymakers, NGO partners, and members of the public;
  • Strengthen national NGO partnerships through regular coordination and cooperation;
  • Support social media activities and provide administrative support where needed.

 

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled in a graduate program and have an undergraduate degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, or a related field with:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Motivation, strong organizational skills, and ability to be self-starting;
  • Proficiency at Microsoft Office and social media platforms, in particular Twitter;
  • An interest in the Middle East and North Africa, or democracy and human rights promotion;
  • Ability to commit full-time – up to 40 hours per week.

Languages and Location:

  • Candidates must be fluent in written and spoken English;
  • Candidates must be based in Dublin.

 

Wage/Fees: Unpaid internship.

Job description

Successfully develop and manage Conservation International’s relationship with assigned European bilateral donors:

  • Lead communications with donor representatives;
  • Build donor intelligence (existing and prospective donors);
  • Contribute to the definition and delivery of donor engagement strategy;
  • Support networking and profile-raising activities;
  • Develop communication tools as needed.

Raise public funds to support CI’s field programs:

  • Active scanning of the funding environment based on the needs and interests of CI’s field programs and technical teams;
  • Develop relationships with potential fundraising prospects;
  • Lead proposal development process for assigned donors;
  • Maintain on-schedule reporting process and meet specific donor reporting needs and strengthen reporting processes; review donor reports to ensure high-quality and timely reports are submitted to donors;
  • Keep accurate record of concept note and proposal pipeline;
  • Reinforce CI’s position as a trusted advisor to the European Commission and targeted European Governments by organizing high-level meetings and exchanges for senior CI staff visiting Europe and European partners visiting field programs or CI headquarters;
  • Support CI’s goals by promoting CI’s policy objectives in Europe, sharing strategic contacts and contributing to coherent approach in Europe;
  • Raise awareness about the role of Europe and other relevant partners within CI and create awareness of the importance of engaging in these partnerships. 

 

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • Proven track record ability to fundraise and network, developing and managing partnerships across a range of stakeholders;
  • Graduate degree in environmental studies, public policy, international relations/development studies or natural resource management and minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience;
  • Excellent knowledge of the institutional framework of the targeted European Governments and/or the European Commission;
  • Extensive contacts in the corresponding environment and development communities;
  • Excellent understanding of conservation, development and political issues in Europe and globally;
  • Strong writing and oral skills in English;
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment that requires collaboration and networking with others in dispersed locations;
  • Willingness to travel as needed (European countries, USA and possibly field locations);
  • Candidates should be EU nationals or have a valid work permit for Belgium.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of one or more additional European languages.

Job description: The Maurice R. Greenberg World Fellows Program is a four-month, full-time residential program based out of Yale’s Jackson Institute for Global Affairs. The Program provides World Fellows the opportunity to expand their vision, learn from each other, and grow personally and professionally.  World Fellows contribute to Yale’s intellectual life, give talks and participate on panels, collaborate with peers, audit classes, and mentor students.

 

Qualifications: 

  • be fluent in English. An excellent command of the English language is essential;
  • be a citizen of a country other than the United States. While dual citizens are eligible, preference is given to candidates whose work is focused outside the US.

 

Wage/Fees: Yale University is offering this compensation package:

  • A taxable stipend to cover the costs of living in New Haven;
  • A modest, furnished one- or two-bedroom apartment for the duration of the program;
  • Medical insurance;
  • Round-trip travel from home country.

There is no application fee or other cost to apply.
