Organization/Company: The Directorate General for Interpretation is a Directorate General of the European Commission. It is the European Commission's interpreting and conference service and provides interpreters for around 11,000 meetings each year, making it the largest interpreting service in the world. The DG Interpretation manages the allocation of the Commission's meeting rooms and provides support for the smooth running of meetings in many languages held there. It also organizes conferences for the Commission's Directorates General and departments, generally in the range of over 40 main events per year. The Directorate General for Interpretation also provides interpretation services to the Commission, the European Council, the Council of the EU, Committee of the Regions, the European Economic and Social Committee, the European Investment Bank, agencies and offices in EU countries, provides advice on the construction and renovation of conference centers with simultaneous interpretation facilities, implement the Commission's multilingualism strategy and bring together partners from non-EU countries to share knowledge on interpretation and disseminate best practice in their respective fields

Job description: The Directorate General of Interpretation offers scholarships for graduates or final-year university students who have already applied or are willing to apply for a full post-graduate or master's degree in conference interpreting offered by a university institution recognized. The scholarship is intended to fund the post-graduate studies of the candidates with suitable results. Eligible applicants will be informed of the result of the selection before the end of November 2018, through a list of names


Qualifications: Ideal candidates must meet the following requirements:

-Being a citizen of one of the member states of the European Union or of one of the candidate countries (Albania, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia or Turkey)

-Have one of the following active languages: Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, French, German, Greek, Irish, Lithuanian, Maltese, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian or Swedish

- Have passive languages in line with the preferential profiles

-Be graduates or attend the last year of university

-Have submitted application or be willing to apply for a complete post-graduate course or master's degree in conference interpretation offered by a recognized university institution

Wage/Fees:  The bursaries can be € 2,400 for students who study in one of the EU member states or € 1,600 for those who study in one of the candidate states or non-members of the European Union


Application process: To apply for the scholarship, candidates must register with the link of the offer, inserting the following documents:

- Duplex copy of the identity card or passport

-CV written in English, French or German, drafted using the europass model

-A short motivational letter of 250-500 words written in one's mother tongue

-A scanned copy of the completed university recommendation form

-The bank details form, duly signed and dated

-Copy of the last university degree
